MOTOR SPORTS CERAMIC COATINGS
Metallic ceramic coatings have been in use for over two decades and have seen widespread usage on numerous motorsport applications, including automotive, marine / watercraft, motorcycles, and ATVs. For many years however, these products were only available to professional race teams. Based on documented performance gains, the popularity and use of metallic ceramic coatings increased. During this time the quality of the coating materials has undergone several generations of improvements with the addition of numerous product groups.
Ceramic Coatings from LEW Inc. utilized in motorsport applications fall into several categories based on the performance characteristics of the individual coating material. Within each category, LEW Inc. offers a variety of products to meet the specific performance/appearance requirements of each application.
- Thermal Barrier Coatings

Thermal Barrier Coatings are designed to reduce the movement of heat in applications such as exhaust systems where keeping heat within the exhaust provides several benefits:
- Reduce Under-Hood Temperatures: The heat generated from an engine's exhaust raises the temperature of every part and component located under the hood. These temperatures subject many components to conditions that can shorten their expected life.
- Increase Engine Performance: Because less heat escapes from the surface of the exhaust, the internal gas velocity increases. This increases the ability of an engine to expel spent energy and results in increased horsepower and improved fuel economy.
- Eliminate Oxidation and Thermal Fatigue: An engine's exhaust is subjected to a very harsh operating environment and must frequently cycle from ambient temperature to operating temperature (usually over 1,000oF/538oC) within minutes of starting. This condition, called thermal cycling, stresses the exhaust system and leads to thermal fatigue and thermal oxidation which is often mistaken for rust.
- Thermal Dispersants
- Thermal Dispersants are designed to move and control excessive temperatures, thermal dispersants protect parts from conditions that can lead to metal fatigue, boiling fluids, damaging metal expansion and a host of other problems. Traditionally, dealing with heat has been handled either by expanding the radiating surface and/or constructing parts from materials that are more heat-conductive. Team Synergy Coatings provides thermal dispersants for use on oil pans, turbochargers, brake parts and various internal engine parts.
- Dry Film Lubricants
- Dry Film Lubricants are designed to move and control excessive temperatures, thermal dispersants protect parts from conditions that can lead to metal fatigue, boiling fluids, damaging metal expansion and a host of other problems. - Speciality Coatings
- Specialty Coatings from LEW Inc. provides additional coating materials to provide insulation, abrasion and chemical protection. These coatings include temperature-rated metallic ceramic fillers, thermal/sound insulators, temperature-rated clear-coats, abrasive/chemical resistant coatings and coatings designed for use over plastic components to permit increased temperature resistance and exposure.
